Vision Australia - incorporating Seeing Eye Dogs - is the largest national provider of blindness and low vision services in Australia. We help members of the community who are blind or have low vision, to live the lives they choose.

As part of its ongoing strategic plan, the Philanthropy Team has developed a sophisticated, evolutionary and ambitious approach to Major Gifts Fundraising - which includes methodically growing its team.

Reporting to the Philanthropy Manager, you will develop and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, build a strong pipeline and play a key and integral part in the Major Gifts program achieving its ambitious 5-year plan.

Leading, mentoring and supporting a team of up to seven Major Gift Fundraisers in:

  • Their professional and personal development
  • Implementing all aspects of their - and your - role, as outlined below
  • Developing and managing a portfolio of your own donors/potential donors, according to KPI’s defined by the National Head of Philanthropy in your performance plan

Essential Job Competencies

  • At least five years in Major Gift Fundraising, with a minimum of three years in leading a team of at least three Major Gift Fundraisers
  • A deep knowledge of and experience with fundraising principles including LIA, Gift Search, Wealth Scan, and Moves Management principles and applications
  • A proven track record in reaching (and exceeding) annual fund-raising targets and developing and maintaining positive and effective long-lasting relationships with donors and other key internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success in personally securing six and seven figure donations over the past three years
  • A proven ability to inspire, motivate, develop trust, mentor and coach individuals and teams, leading them to success and ensuring retention
  • Experience in building and maintaining comprehensive and diverse networks
  • Ability to work closely with team members, cross functional teams and key internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the Australian philanthropic environment
  • Ability to analyse, plan and implement strategic processes/programs
