Vision Australia’s widely acclaimed Digital Access team is experiencing growth in our developer consulting services and are looking for somebody to lead in this area and help develop this side of the business.

The role involves delivering fee-based consultancy, website and application reviewing, training and consulting services to a variety of organisations. Whilst contributing to the development of new products, tools and processes.

You will represent Vision Australia on national and international interest groups, forums and conferences. This is a great opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects and develop your reputation in the software development and accessibility industries.


  • Provide advice and consulting for our clients on accessibility processes and strategies that work in an agile environment such as automated testing, design systems, DevOps and continuous integration;
  • Develop and improve our training and consulting services in accessible front-end development and testing;
  • Conduct WCAG 2.1 accessibility assessments of websites and apps;
  • Research, develop and improve our code solutions and techniques to meet accessibility and WCAG 2.1 requirements;
  • Provide code solutions and feedback for visual designs;
  • Actively participate in the development of the Australian and international body of knowledge about accessible development through research, development of tools, involvement in special interest groups and forums and participation in industry conferences;
  • Keep abreast of current developments and trends in accessibility and inclusive technologies;
  • Contribute as a team member to further the development of digital accessibility knowledge and skills within Vision Australia.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Passion for accessibility and inclusion;
  • Tertiary qualification in computer science or similar, and/or work experience;
  • Knowledge and practical application of web technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript;
  • Experience developing with frameworks such as React, Angular and Node;
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of the WCAG guidelines;
  • Experience working as a front-end developer or front-end engineer on agile projects that meet WCAG compliance;
  • Strong experience using software development platforms and project management software such as Github and JIRA;
  • Exposure to agile artefacts such as user stories and acceptance criteria;
  • Confidence facilitating training workshops and consulting on projects;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication (technical and non-technical);
